Day 5

30 Day Lolita Challenge

Day 5 : 10 items from your wishlist

It has been so long since I reflected on my EGL wishlist! To be honest I don't have a lot left, since starting to officially build my wardrobe in 2012 I have had quite a bit of time to track down my wishlist items (and then some omg!)- I am pretty content with my current wardrobe as it is too and generally don't buy much anymore unless it is something I really love (although admittedly there still is an arrangement of boleros, cutsews, blouses, skirts, bags, and jewelry pieces that I am passively looking for!); but for the sake of this challenge I will try! So in no particular order, here are some of the things on my Wishlist.

This Promenade de Paris artwork always reminds me of a lovely day walking around and shopping!

This coat has been my favorite ever since I first started the fashion, in fact I remember when it was released! Back then I was a student with a part time job so I could never afford it, but a part of me still wouldn't mind buying it one day if it is ever possible. I am a bit more partial to the White colorway now but honestly I would buy it in ay of the three colors! The waffled lamé is my favorite aspect, I love waffle textures so much and everything from the buttons to the caplet just brings me so much joy. Thankfully I have a few coats I adore now that are similar but I could definitely make room in my wardrobe for this if the opportunity ever happens!

Oh how I need this bag haha. I passed on it a few times but one day I will finally go for it. It is so cute, in fact I love the entire line. (There is also a pink Usakumya and a Kumakumya version too!) I always loved window bags and the idea of filling it with multiple tiny Usakumyas is just too fun to pass up! Not much else to say about this, it is a 10/10 item and hopefully one day I can add it to my Kumya-themed hoard.

When this dress came out I was so torn, I really loved it but I was pretty much at capacity in my wardrobe and also, I didn't know what colorway I liked best which basically had me excusing myself from the release completely due to my indecisiveness. (This also happened with the Melty Ribbon Chocolate release, which thankfully had a surprisingly happy conclusion where I got it in bitter BUT I should have known better by now!) My other excuse was I "already had a holiday print" at the time. Years later I decided no that's silly, I am 100% allowed to have more than one seasonal print and if I wanted more holiday themes I absolutely could! But of course, this dress is now a bit tricky to find in this cut and colorway because I waited so long. But it's okay, I don't mind keeping an eye out and if one day it works out, so be it! I actually really love night markets and the art on this dress is so very precious, I feel that way about all of BABY's Usakumya holiday prints but this one is especially adorable, I cannot get over how they are holding hands!

To no one's surprise, another Kumya related item. (What can I say, it's my favorite theme!) But this... is a grave need. BABY always does these incredible anniversary Headquarters Exclusive releases (that are often lotteries, ahh!!) for the cutest things ever. And this time was no exception. Back in 2023 they dropped this Usakumya Rucksack sized outfit set that I still cannot get over to this day. I was lucky enough to do a MTO with BABY USA for my first ever rucksack sized Kumya but she of course has nothing to wear except for my own headpieces I share. So when this set dropped, oh my gosh it took me out. But of course, it was in store only, lottery based, and they didn't even ship- you had to enter and pick it up in person. Naturally, it became instantly rare and never popped up often except for a small fortune. They actually did a second release in 2024 that I think wasn't lottery based but otherwise it was tragically just as exclusive. So of course this became a pipe dream as soon as I saw the news for it, but gosh I long for it in white or pink one day, it is the cutest rucksack sized outfit set I have ever seen!!

Cookies (and candy!) are one of my favorite jewelry themes and I particularly like BABY's sweeter cookie designs, they are always so cute with how they get that perfect smooth and delicate icing look. So this line is one i am still keeping an eye out for, it is so cute and goes with so much of my wardrobe. Not much else to say about this one, I just love everything about it! It doesn't pop up for sale often but I'm ever at the right place at the right time I wouldn't hesitate to get it. (I also would love a ring too!)

Funnily enough I don't have a single muffler designed by an EGL brand, which is funny as it does run quite cold where I live in autumn and winter. (I do have earmuffs though!) Honestly I would be happy with either this bow style or a bunny style, it looks just so cute to bundle up in! I do have scarves I can wear in the cold weather that suit EGL fashion but one day it would be nice to get one like this.

I feel a little silly including this set but technically it has been on my wishlist for decades! It is impossible to get though as it was a runway sample set only for a Laforet fashion show back in 2005. But look at how absolutely adorable it is! I adore everything about it, the cherries all over the bolero and jsk, the colors, the gingham... perfection! I have accepted that this will always be a set I can only admire but I wanted to share it anyway because it is just too cute.

Honestly, these shoes will haunt me until the end of time. I LOVE Melissa shoes and wear them normally and when these were released, I had just moved and started my new job so I had absolutely no extra funds for lavash purchases and had to pass on them. And gosh how I regret that!! If they ever release them again I am springing for them (probably in more than one color) because they are just so perfect. Melissa shoes are some of the comfiest I have ever worn plus the material doesn't tear easily and they come in an array of sizes. I'm forever praying that one day they will make them again, maybe a petition should be organized to send to Melissa for a re-release hehe!

So this is one of my only 'holy grail' items I am actively looking for, the BIG Usakumya! She is a whopping 70cm high, an entire head taller than the regular Usakumya rucksack! Similar to some of my other dream items, when she was available for reservation I was not able to spend so much on a lavish purchase (not to mention, what would the shipping cost to overseas even be...) and every time she has popped up second hand she sold out before I even saw the listing. Other than a second pink release in 2019 I don't think she released again? But if she ever is released for another reservation I am 100% going to try my best to bring one home!

One last absolute pipe dream, Rose Ribbon Embroidery in white!! An absolutely iconic dress thanks to Shimotsuma Monogatari and definitely one of the main reasons for my fondness for embroidery. I imagine this dress is beloved by many, and understandably so! The only hope I'd ever have to find (and be able to afford, considering the second hand market value) this dress is if BABY ever does a re-release, so I will keep crossing my fingers that one day it may be!

That is all for now, thank you for reading!

Day 4

30 Day Lolita Challenge

Day 4 : 10 different kinds of food you like

Oh gosh, what a way for me to prattle on about one of my favorite topics, good food! These are in no particular order but I tried to organize them from sweet to savory~!

1. Belgium Waffles
My favorite go-to for a fancy breakfast or brunch always incorporates Belgium waffles! My family taught me how to make them from scratch ages ago (we mainly had them during Christmas) and I still use their recipe to date.  It is my absolute favorite comfort food especially with loads of fresh fruit on top!

2. Fresh Fruit
And speaking of, is there anything better?? I especially love strawberries, raspberries, peach, nectarine, and blueberries. Strawberries are also one of my favorite motifs in EGL

3. Ice Cream
This is probably my all time favorite dessert ever that I always love! Scooped ice cream, parfaits, banana splits, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cake even... it's just always delicious!  I l think fresh homemade strawberry is my top favorite, but I also love anything with chocolate and plain frozen yogurt too! I am a bit particular as I don't like it super sugary though, so any recipe that allows the natural flavors of the ingredients to come through is my preference.

4. Home Baking
I'm cheating a bit with this title but that is only because there are so many that I love, I have to incorporate them!  Nothing is more delicious than home baked goods~ I typically make banana bread, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and apple pie from scratch and really love those a lot. I want to eventually get into cake decorating more one day! The best part is how the whole house fills up with a fresh baked goods scent, it's simply the best.

5. Unicorn Crepes
Oh gosh I love unicorn crepes more than I can put into words. I guess they are basically a combination of most of what I listed above so it makes sense...  There are so many places I like but flavor wise I really love Sophie's at Japan Town, San Francisco. Their batter recipe is so good and I swear their vanilla ice cream has some kind of magic in it.

6. Steamed Curry Buns
I could eat this every single day forever  there is a local grocery store near me that makes them fresh daily and oh my gosh they are like a bite of heaven. The dough is so plush and chewy and inside is delicious Japanese curry with carrot. One day when I have more energy I plan to make them, they are just a lot of work!

7. Sushi
Ever since I think I was in 5th grade, I always loved sushi. The balance of rice, fish, and vegetables is just perfection to me! After doing a homestay in Japan and learning how to make sushi with my host mom, I have been making it for myself too for many years  Typically I stick to my favorite nigiri and maki options, but I do also love getting sushi at restaurants too♡

8. Dim Sum
Another food I grew up with! I adore dim sum so much, there are just so many delicious options and flavors! I stick to non-meat options but there are still tons of good choices. Plus getting dim sum out is always so comfy and relaxing!  Some of my favorite memories are of having dim sum with family and friends~

9. Tofu Stew & Tofu Kimchi Jjigae
This is my all time favorite comfort food! I don't eat meat so I go with the tofu version and oh my goodness, it is just the best. My partner also learned how to make it from scratch too and it always so delicious and makes me feel so rejuvenated~ I could also legitimately eat it every single day!

10. Tea & Coffee
Okay these things are not technically foods, but I love them both so much I had to include them. I am such a big tea fan and have loved it ever since I was in... high school? Middle school? I can't remember! When I was younger I met a friend who is a tea connoisseur and she taught me so much about tea, it was like a new magical world! So many varieties, categories, and flavors~ One of my all time favorite places to pick up tea is Vital Tea Leaf, which also can ship tea to your home! Their pu'er cakes are my favorite.
Additionally, I am a big fan of coffee too! I typically only drink espresso or cappuccinos with non-dairy. While I love getting it out at small cafés from time to time, we usually make it at home because I love my freshly ground french roast beans first thing in the morning so much. I have espresso every morning and typically prefer it when having dessert!

...now I am soooo hungry!

Wednesday, July 5, 2023

Gosh okay, here I am! Time has really gotten away from me but every time I sat down to type up a post, the timing was just never right or there was too much going on. But I'm finally feeling up to writing a bit and hopefully I can get back on track.

The last few months have really not been kind...  I was hopeful this year would allow me to start rebuilding emotionally a little bit since the chaos early this year, let alone after the last few years, but that just wasn't in the cards yet it seems. ;; There has been a lot of loss and hardship that has happened recently, plus my health has been a terrible struggle since my surgery due to complications they didn't expect. Despite working with many specialists I now have to get additional procedures which has been so disheartening. Between everything, it all became just too much. I still haven't even fully processed the losses in my family that happened during 2020, so this on top of everything has left me in a really challenging place emotionally and I don't have the bandwidth for much of anything anymore. All I could really do was try to pick up the pieces of my heart, rest my mind as much as possible, and focus on spending time with my loved ones, who have been so wonderful and offer so much kindness, positivity, patience, and support through this with me.

(I'm sorry to write about this, these topics have been such a big part of my life for a while now, so I wanted to reflect a little bit on that. )

I have mostly been reading a lot and working on personal projects when having the energy, mostly writing, art, and dabbling a bit in embroidery or crafts. (Perhaps I will share some one day, I am really self-conscious about the things I make ahh. ) I've also started up of my older some hobbies and games again that I used to love a lot, many with friends who were surprisingly interested in joining me which has been so much fun. We even started a media club which has been such great motivation to read and watch a lot of things I have been meaning to, which has been wonderful. (Right now we are reading Maison Ikkoku!) My next creative goal is to learn how to crochet and I still have a future goal of making some cute vlogs when I'm able, though it feels like a bit of a pipe dream at this point. While I never really left, I've also been having some fun using my tumblr account more (and changing the look) which has been fun to go back to. There are just so many wonderful pictures and references that are so nostalgic now.

In terms of fashion related news, I've only had a few little gatherings with friends where I wore pretty casual coordinates that weren't really noteworthy enough for photos, but I loved wearing them all the same. Since the sudden changes I've had health-wise, I needed to alter how I approach wearing my wardrobe which has been a new learning curve, but I found a lot of things that work well. In spring, I did a mini closet reorganizing where instead of having all of my wardrobe dresses in one specific order (by color), I put everything into it into three categories based on clothing type (and organized by color): pieces that look best with a decent amount of styling that are busier cuts/prints; pieces that are still a bit flashy but can be worn more simplistically; and pieces that can be worn super casual with minimal styling that I can literally throw on when not feeling the best but still want to wear my wardrobe. This way of organizing my wardrobe has been working out so well! I am considering making a post dedicated to this and some things I've learned in case anyone else finds them helpful~

That is all for now, I am not sure when I will update next, but until then~

Another month draws to a close and it wound up being rather busy!

I do love February for a couple of reasons, namely because I adore the themes for valentine's day (cute colors, heart motifs, and chocolates are the best!) and it is also the month I first met my partner now fifteen whole years ago!  So it was very fun being so lovely dovey about that this year, plus I was able to enjoy lots of chocolate this month which was very exciting too.

Cozy months are my absolute favorite since I love bundling up in soft outfits and having hot things, which was extra nice because we had so many snows this month! I believe there were four where I live in February alone but they were all very brief, a few inches overnite/into the morning and then by the late afternoon it would mostly melt. It was fun enjoying such powdery snows without it affecting the roads as much as usual~ there is nothing more beautiful to me than snowfall in the morning!

My partner and I celebrated valentine's a bit differently this year by going to the place we met for the first time those fifteen years ago!  It was so nostalgic going there together on the very same exact date we first met, it felt surreal being there after all this time~ The weather was perfect and we also got coffee and brunch at our favorite place to celebrate, dressed up cutely, and had did fun relaxing things in the city. It was perfect!

Since it has been so chilly we have been playing lots of cozy games, most notably stardew valley and the new pokemon violet game. I am not really into pokemon anymore but playing with friends is really fun and I'm enjoying process of collecting all my favorite pink ones for my main six (and buying all the cute clothes hehe)~ I really need to finally progress with the actual story though...
The end of this month became rather challenging as my little Pancake wound up having a scary health issue which needed emergency surgery...  He is currently recovering from it and is thankfully looking better with each day (I am finishing the post few days into March, hello from the future!) but the entire ordeal happened so suddenly and was just so beyond stressful, I was such a wreck from it. My little fuzzy family members are so so important to me and them having to go through health issues really breaks my heart. I am really hoping for the best after this procedure and that he will be happy and healthy moving forward. I have been giving him tons of love, pets, and treats which he at least seems to enjoy~

I feel like there is more I had wanted to write however since things wound up becoming so challenging in February, I think this is where I will end it for now.❤

Tuesday, January 31, 2023

It has been an eternity since my last post, but gosh I feel like I lived five lifetimes!

There is an artist I adore named Middlepot who keeps a blog and updates at the least once at the end of each month, which has been very inspirational to me and I wanted to start doing something similar if I can. It feels like such a nice thing to look forward to and I liked the idea of having an opportunity to at least summarize how the month went for me for one of my favorite hobbies and passions, even if I wasn't able to write as much as I liked previously~

The most notable good part of January was one of my dear friends was finally able to visit from California!!  It had been many years since I last saw her and while it was just for a couple of days it was so incredibly fun! One day was spent being comfy at home having lots of tea, sandwiches (although I messed one up because of having to use a new kind of french mustard which was full of horseradish unbeknownst to me, noo!) and desserts while catching up which was so nice and cozy~

We also both had a bunch of things for each other from combining shopping shipments over the last two years!! So we had a super fun unboxing party where we could finally give each other the purchases we had been holding on to which was so exciting. Even though it was a long wait it was so very worth it and such a great time opening things together!! We exchanged gifts in person too and booted up our Sanrio M!x Tamagotchis together, it was such a fun day!

Our next hangout involved a full day of adventures! And the best part is she, her friend I met for the first time, and I all got to wear coordinates together!!  It was so much fun! Her friend's partner and mine also came along so it was a bundle of fun. I am so terrible about remembering to take photos when running around with friends ahh, but we were an assortment of various tartan colors and vintage prints, we all looked so cute! For the day I introduced them to my favorite plant nursery which also serves brunch, then we went to a park that surrounds a big lake and also has one of the best chocolatiers nearby (also my favorite place for mocha lattes), and we finished the day with some soul warming ramen! By the end of the day my face was sore from laughing so much, it was such a wonderful time~!! I was so sad when she had to return home and hope I can see her again soon, it was such a wonderful and energizing few days together!

Other than that, this month was just filled with the usual plethora of appointments but having such fun times was a really nice way to start the year~ Especially ones that involved one of my favorite hobbies with friends!

~Happy 2023~
